HEADLINES

·       Streams PYP Program Evaluation Report Leaked. Someone leaked the IBO evaluation report for the Stream PYP program. This report is still being reviewed by the district and is not available to the general public. Both Mark Trombetta and Trish Donlon gained access to the report and commented on it in letters to the editor of the south hills Almanac. Administrators, school board members, and residents expressed concern about this breach of trust. Petersen assured the public that board decisions would be based on facts and logic, not fear.

·       Board Considers New Policies on Bullying and Weapons.  Residents have been asking for a revised policy on weapons for some time. It would seem that the safety of our children should be one of the board’s top priorities. However, Coliane questioned whether new policies might increase the district’s liability.

·       Middle Schools Renovation Forum. There will be a Middle Schools Renovation Community Forum on Monday, Oct 20, from 7PM to 9PM in the High School LGI. Please attend.

Upper St. Clair IB Review

The IB program has undergone a review under the District's four-step curriculum review process. Upon the completion of that process the leadership teams at all three levels made recommendations to continue IB in USC and these were approved by the superintendent. The curriculum recommendations were presented to the school board at the AAA committee meeting on June 11, 2007. Dr. Iracki and Mr. Bluey voted to table the IB recommendations discussion until August 2007.
